Burrito Smoothie

This is my favorite.   Imagine eating a burrito.  Peel back that aluminum foil and you take a big bite of this perfect mixture of

  • tortilla,
  • beans,
  • rice,
  • salsa,
  • sour cream,
  • avocado,
  • cheese,
  • and whatever meat is your favorite.

A perfect mixture of all of those things.

Basically, a burrito is already a smoothie in a tortilla glass.  Just with large sized chunks.   Add some stock and blend it and you have perfect broken jaw food.

I may have already had about a half dozen burrito smoothies since my jaw broke.   Once I went to the burrito store, came home, dropped the whole thing in and added some stock and that was it.  DELICIOUS.

The most recent burrito smoothie was all the ingredient added separately.   I’m not sure that there needs to be a recipe posted for this one.

I will, however, give you a couple of tips.

I suggest toasting the tortilla.  It will blend more quickly and add some depth of flavor.

Go heavy on the avocado (it’s good for you!), but only if you’re going to drink your burrito quickly.  Old avocado’s flavor shines through and doesn’t reheat well.

If you got your burrito from somewhere and they gave you chips and salsa… add those too!

I’ve been using extra salsa, because it’s delicious has good flavor and means I don’t use as much stock.  I imagine that you could use milk to dilute it, but I’m making some really delicious stocks these days.  (Recipe to come.)  And to be clear, yes, a burrito smoothie does taste differently from a taco smoothie, a nachos smoothie, and and I’ll keep you updated on the rest of the menu.
